Climb aboard our traditional Paraw, a truly unique Filipino sailboat. With tribal carvings and modern rigging, she’s the largest Paraw still sailing in the Philippines.
This sailing expedition runs between El Nido town and the Tao Farm in Daracoton Bay. Explore Bacuit Bay and sail around the northern tip of mainland Palawan, immersing yourself in the island’s raw beauty at Tao’s private basecamps.
Choose a 2 DAY or 3 DAY sailing only trips, or combine with a 4 DAY expedition connecting El Nido and Coron for the Ultimate 6 DAY Palawan journey.
In the past entire villages and bands of pirates used to sail the seas with beautiful watercrafts, today only one traditional Philippine sailboat remains—ours.
The vessel is adorned with tribal carvings and is designed after the boats that navigated Philippine islands up to 1000 years ago.
Avoid the usual crowded ABC tours of the Bacuit bay, jump onboard this truly unique vessel and experience El Nido the Tao way. Travel up the coast to less visited Daracouton Bay ending in Tao Farm on the northern tip of Palawan.
Stay overnight in our off grid bamboo basecamps. Each one has its own personality, a sheltered cove, a wild jungle, a community homestay or a typhoon wrecked boutique resort.
There are 16 in total so no two trips are the same.
We are passionate about the food we serve. Native fruits and vegetables from our farms, fresh caught Seafood and occasionally some homegrown pork. Vegetarian and Vegans can enjoy the numerous plant based dishes. There is always plenty for everyone to eat.
Help yourself to Tea, coffee and drinking water. Alcohol and other drinks are available at additional cost from the bar.
There are hundreds of islands to explore, jump overboard to snorkel the coral reefs, swim to the islands and check out the beach, or stay onboard and read your book, its up to you. Help out in the kitchen, chat with the local crew and get to know your shipmates.
The Tao Experience is a social gathering but also with the space to find time to be by yourself and enjoy getting away from it all.
Island youngsters are keeping tradition alive by learning how to sail again. Our crew of barefoot sailors learned their craft in Tao and are excited to show you their skills.
Each guest contributes directly to our foundation, whose work with local island communities create a positive impact for our hosts and a deeper connection for our travelers.

what you need to know
Guests are required to check in at the Tao Office at their starting point any day before their trip. Our offices are open from 8:00 to 20:00 everyday.
Present a valid ID (passport, driver’s license) upon checking in.
When you check in you will be given the time of your briefing, usually in the evening before departure.
It is important to attend the briefing so that you can meet the crew and Expedition leader who give you an orientation and plan for the next days and make any last minute preparations.
Each expedition group has a wide mix of ages, nationalities, and backgrounds to make for an interesting, diverse, and vibrant atmosphere on-board and in the basecamps.
The minimum age for joiners of this experience is 13 unless by prior agreement with parents / official guardians and subject to Tao’s discretion. There is no upper age limit.
All guests should be comfortable in the water as swimming is a big part of the experience. However, our crew are happy to help travelers worried about their physical capabilities.
The Tao Experience is a social experience for like-minded travelers. We don’t mean people who think the same things, but think the same way. We welcome adventurous travelers looking to disconnect from the noise of the modern world, reconnect with nature, and be inspired by new perspectives.

October to May is Amihan (meaning northeastern winds) where temperatures hover around 30 degrees and you can expect it to be mostly dry. That said, our trips run year round (except August and September) and we think the odd tropical downpour is all part of the experience.
You’ll be given a cashless bracelet to pay for beers, cocktails and any other drinks form the bar, massages and anything you want to buy in our community shop, like homemade coconut oil or Kwang Loong (our recommended brand of bug repellent). You can even use it to pay your crew tip.
