Eco Policy

Tao's Ethics

We introduce a different concept of travel/tourism, not too sentimental on the 'eco' bandwagon but concentrating more on the ethical and fairness of what tourism should be. We have the local communities as our business partners. We explore their islands, we visit their villages, we rely on them for supplies and shelter.. So what is there for them in return?

Employment is the ultimate help you can give a local, something they can work hard on, be proud of and earn a decent living. Hand outs, charity and livelihood projects can only go so far especially in this proud culture. Although we operate seasonally, we make sure that our employees have had a chance to prepare for the rainy season, as most of them rely on going back to fishing and farming, there are smaller boats and farmland available they can use to help themselves.

Education and health

Avoiding big unsustainable projects, we try to concentrate more on education for younger children and community health, by which everyone agree and everyone can help out. So far we have set up and help 3 daycare centre for age 3-6 in remote villages. We supply dental care to the remote villages, we supply over 300 student with complete set of educational materials for the start of the school year, we have the Cabigsing village- nutrition program every saturday where we feed and monitor up to 80 children every week.  Island sports day for children in El Nido. to name some of our projects...

Environment and the Communities

With our aim and reputation we can then suggest that tourism needs the community to be more aware of their environment, which is our main attraction. Although it takes a lot of effort to get everyone involve in the community, the children bridges out our relationship with the families. Through them we manage to speak out our concern and educate about environmental issues.

Low Impact?

As much as we can, we try not to change, add or lessen any of what is already there. We cannot comply or claim to be 'zero carbon' for we use diesel on our boat and all of of travelers flown in from other side of the world. We cannot advertise on what we can not stand our ground on just to look good. We know best what it means by keeping a low impact to where we explore. We know where to anchor safely not to damage corals, we do not want special structures to accommodate our travelers, we do not intrude and most importantly we take the right people to this special places.
